Dear BWCC Members and Web Visitors:

It was Samuel Johnson who said, "Knowledge is of two kinds. We know a subject ourselves, or we know where we can find information upon it." In many respects, the World Wide Web has provided an opportunity for millions of us to gain information that previously was available only with a lot of hard work. Our Chamber is also an excellent place to find information—the lifeblood of our modern economy.

The information contained on this site is but a glimpse of the many functions we perform. If you are not a member, we encourage you to visit us and learn more about one of the oldest regional Chambers in Maryland. Perhaps our monthly program, "What Can the Chamber Do For Me?" will provide just the opportunity you need to hear our story and ask your questions. Please give us a call for more information.

Over the years this organization has proven its capacity to take on challenges and succeed. We developed and managed for seventeen years the first highway information centers in Maryland, serving 5 million visitors to Maryland. We partnered with state and local agencies in developing Maryland's first "one-stop" employment center. More than a decade ago we conceived and developed a regional transportation system that today carries nearly 1.5 million passengers in portions of four counties. As far as we know we are the only Chamber in the United States to be operating a regional bus system. In November of 2001 we welcomed nine business entrepreneurs from Russia, hosting them in both businesses and homes for a one-month intensive study/exchange period. We thus became the first Chamber in the United States to receive a Community Connections Grant sponsored through the Bureau of Education and Cultural Affairs at the U. S. Department of State.

Working together we can accomplish much more than any one business could individually. We encourage your participation and look forward to welcoming you to one of the most dynamic and progressive business organizations in the United States.

Wishing you much success in your business endeavors…
